1. Soft Fabrics: Soft fabrics are generally lightweight and have excellent drape, with smooth, flowing lines that allow the garment silhouette to unfold naturally and gracefully. Soft fabrics primarily include knitted fabrics with a loose weave structure, silk fabrics, and soft, sheer linen gauze fabrics. In fashion design, soft knitted fabrics often feature simple, straight-line silhouettes that accentuate the body’s natural curves; while silk and linen gauze fabrics tend to be styled in loose, draped forms with pleats and ruffles, highlighting the fluidity of the fabric’s lines.
2. Structurally Rigid Fabrics: These fabrics feature crisp lines and a sense of volume, enabling them to create rich and full garment silhouettes. Common examples include cotton fabrics, polyester-cotton blends, corduroy, linen, and various medium-to-heavyweight wool and synthetic fiber textiles. Such fabrics are particularly well-suited for designs that emphasize the precision of garment shapes—for instance, suits and tailored outfits.
3. Glossy Fabrics: Glossy fabrics have a smooth surface that reflects light brilliantly, giving them a dazzling, radiant appearance. These fabrics often feature a satin weave. They are most commonly used in evening gowns or stage performance costumes, creating a striking and visually dramatic effect. When used in formal wear, glossy fabrics offer great flexibility in styling—ranging from simple, minimalist designs to more extravagant and exaggerated silhouettes.
4. Heavyweight Fabrics: Heavyweight fabrics are thick and sturdy, with a crisp, structured drape that allows for stable shaping. These include various types of heavy woolen fabrics and quilted textiles. Such fabrics have a sense of volume and shape expansion; therefore, excessive use of pleats and gathers should be avoided. In design, A-line and H-line silhouettes are particularly suitable.
5. Transparent Fabrics: Transparent fabrics are lightweight and sheer, creating an elegant and mysterious artistic effect. They include cotton, silk, synthetic fiber fabrics, and more—such as georgette, satin crepe, and synthetic fiber lace. To highlight the transparency of these fabrics, designers often employ natural, full-bodied H-shaped and truncated-cone silhouettes that feature rich variations in design. 6. Functional Fabrics: Functional fabrics are textiles endowed with special properties, such as flame retardancy, antistatic qualities, and resistance to acids and alkalis.

Recently, the fabric market at China Light & Textile City has seen insufficient demand from both northern and southern buyers. Transactions involving polyester-cotton blended fabrics have declined, leading to an overall contraction in market activity. However, orders for spring fabrics remain relatively robust in certain segments. Some textile companies operating on a “store-front factory” model, as well as marketing departments of large-scale manufacturers and sizable retail outlets, continue to enjoy strong sales of finished polyester-cotton blended fabrics. Specifically, certain segments of spring fabric orders are still receiving substantial bulk orders, and overseas orders for spring fabrics remain fairly active in localized areas.

The difference between pure cotton jacquard fabric and all-cotton jacquard fabric lies in their manufacturing processes. All-cotton jacquard fabric is a textile processing technique that produces fabrics with an elegant and sophisticated appearance. This type of weaving employs a highly precise warp and weft interlacing method, making it a commonly used textile technique in modern textile industry.
